The law requires anyone operating a vessel powered by 15hp or more to be in possession of at least a Category R (inland waters) Certificate of Competence. The final date for compliance was 1st March 2010!
Hermanus Yacht Club has been offered an excellent deal for Skippers Ticket training and assessment at Category E level (one nautical mile from shore and 15 miles from an approved launch site), much better value than Category R. The qualification is for life and there is no annual renewal. It is a part of the whole; if you aspire to an offshore ticket, you start here anyway and add more learning.
To book contact the Chairman of Sailing.
Those members who are already suitably qualified, please forward a copy of your certificate to the Manager at Hermanus Yacht Club so that your details can be entered on our schedule of "Authorised Skippers".
